Motorola DP8401-Ex can operate in digital or analogue mode, or a combination of the two and features 5-tone signalling in analogue mode.
In digital mode, the Motorola DP4801 Ex is compatible with all Motorola solutions including Capacity Plus, Link Capacity Plus, IP Site Connect and Conventional repeater. The DP4801-Ex is by far one of the most versatile ATEX display & keypad digital two way radios on the market today. The Motorola DP4801-Ex is the non-display version.
The Motorola DP4801Ex series of ATEX two way radios from Motorola have Bletooth, GPS, Man Down, Lone Worker, Transmit Interrupt as standard. Motorola DP4401 Ex Features VHF (136-174MHz); UHF1 (403-470MHz) 1000 channels Large Full-colour, 5-line display - operating in Day or Night mode for easy viewing Tri-colour LED for clear visual feedback on radio operating status Easy-to-use menu navigation keys enable intuitive user interface Full Alphanumeric Keypad enables flexible radio operation and text messaging Large, textured push-to-talk button for ease of use 5 programmable buttons to improve ease-of-use and increase operator efficiency Emergency button to help ensure rapid response to critical incidents Quick, easy-to-use Group, Individual and All-call capability Digital Phone Patch capability Sophisticated Emergency Calls help ensure employee safety PTT ID helps improve communications efficiency and system discipline Remote Monitor features help ensure employee safety and enable fast assessment of remote user status Elegant channel scanning schemes help ensure calls are received first time every time Privacy Features VOX Capability Transmit Interrupt Man Down Lone Worker Analogue Mode Compatible 5 Tone Signalling Factory Installed Option Board Integrated GPS Over the Air Programming Intelligent Audio allowing the radio volume to automatically adjust to compensate for background noise IP67 ingress protection (also certified to the highest ingress protection available under ATEX/IECEx test conditions - IP64) Direct Mode (Including Dual Capacity Direct Mode) / Repeater Mode IP Site Connect (Conventional Multiple Site Coverage) Capacity Plus (Single Site Trunking) Linked Capacity Plus (Multi Site Trunking) Features Explained Two Way Radio GPS GPS (global positioning system) is a mechanism which a device can use a number of in-range satellites to trangulate it's position and transmit that position back to the repeater or base station. This enables the supervisor to more effectively manage team members by knowing their current location.
GPS is designed for outdoor tracking. See "Indoor tracking" for indoor solutions. GPS is a standard feature of the Motorola DP4801 Ex.
DMR TDMA TDMA is a technology that allows several users to share the same frequency channel by dividing the signal into different time slots. With DMR this is two time slots to every 12.5KHz frequency channel allocation. Before DMR every 12.5KHz frequency allocation could carry just one broadcast of RF traffic.
Now with DMR 12.5KHz bandwidth allows two voice channels. See the video below for an explanation on how this works. Information Video Capacity Plus Capacity plus is a quasi-trunking solutions that uses DMR TDMA time slot technology to mimic trunking technology.
Capacity Plus will automatically select an available time slot for the radio trasmission. This allows for potentially unlimited channels or talk groups. The only restriction is the amount of available time slots.
Capacity Plus is only available for re-repeater-based systems, as it's essentially a repeater licence upgrade. With a basic Capacity Plus repeater licence you get 25 radio licences included. Any Capacity Plus compatible radio will work on a Capacity Plus enabled repeater.
Capacity Plus Video Linked Capacity Plus Linked Capacity Plus is an extension of the Capacity Plus system and allows for up to 15 sites. This enables the user to potentially build a reasobably large multi-site system at relatively low cost. Transmit Interrupt Transmit interrupt is a feature that enables a high priority transmission to take priority over normal priority transmissions.
For example a supervisor might want to make an important announcement to the team or call for an evacuation in the event of a incident. Transmit Interrupt Information Video Transmit Interrupt is a ...
